Emirates to launch flights to Bogota, Colombia via Miami
Emirates has announced that it plans to launch daily flights to Bogota, Colombia (BOG), via Miami (MIA) from June 2024.
The Dubai-based carrier sent an application to serve the route to the Colombian aviation authority (Aeronáutica Civil de Colombia – Aerocivil) on February 9, 2024, which will now initiate an approval process. This could also involve listening to any parties that wish to raise objections.
This new service will be an extension of Emirates’ current Dubai (DXB) to Miami (MIA) service, which operates daily with a Boeing 777-300ER.
Emirates will use fifth freedom rights to transport passengers and cargo to and from the Colombian capital, taking advantage of an interlude of several hours between its inbound and outbound flights at Miami.
This is not the only fifth freedom destination in the Americas operated by Emirates, which also flies between Barcelona (BCN) and Mexico City (MEX), Athens and Newark-Liberty (EWR) and Milan-Malpensa (MXP) to New York-JFK.
If finally confirmed, Bogota will become Emirates’ fifth destination in Latin America after Mexico City, Buenos Aires (EZE) in Argentina, and Sao Paulo (GRU) and Rio de Janeiro (GIG) in Brazil.
