A me risulta bene, soprattutto in Y.

http://www.anna.aero/2015/12/02/leak-of ... barcelona/

Leak of the Week – EVA Air eyes-up Milan and Barcelona; Washington and Chicago also mooted; Delhi and Cebu to get connections too

EVA Air ‒ soon to be seen flying over these cities. With 24 787-10s and two more 777-300s in the delivery pipeline, the Star Alliance carrier will have to look at new city pairs to keep these new aircraft gainfully employed. Top of the list are Milan and Barcelona in Europe, as well as Washington and Chicago in the US, and Delhi and Cebu in Asia.

With a bulging order book for another 26 medium- and long-haul aircraft, EVA Air, Taiwan’s biggest carrier in terms of weekly ASKs (flag carrier China Airlines is bigger in terms of weekly seats), and the country’s first privately owned international, is poised to add two new European destinations – Barcelona and Milan Malpensa – as well as Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles to its hub operation at Taipei Taoyuan next year. In addition, the Star Alliance member, which was established in 1989, is expected to start services to Delhi in India and Cebu in the Philippines in the next 12 months.

EVA currently flies to the following points non-stop and one-stop in Europe:

Paris CDG – four times weekly 777-300;

Amsterdam (via BKK) – thrice-weekly 777-300;

London Heathrow (via BKK) – daily 777-300;

Vienna (via BKK) – four times weekly A330-200.

Given the fact that three out of four of EVA’s existing European routes fly via Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, it is highly likely that Barcelona and Milan will be flown, at least in an initial phase, on a one-stop basis. As Barcelona currently does not have a direct service to the Thai capital it may be keen for that stop to continue. However, at Malpensa the addition of this intermediate halt may well upset the current incumbent Thai Airways, which currently operates the city pair on a thrice-weekly basis with its 747-400 fleet. One slight negative for both suggested European airports is the fact that neither is a Star Alliance stronghold, with IAG/oneworld’s Vueling ruling the roost at Barcelona and Malpensa being dominated by SkyTeam’s Alitalia and easyJet, with the latter’s CEO Carolyn McCall recently telling anna.aero that feeding another carrier “would complicate our main strategy.”

New Asian connections for Spain and Italy

Both European airports do have some direct routes into Asia already (as indicated in the table below), as well as being well-served by the MEB3 (Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways) airlines.

Existing Asian non-stop connections (Operating airline code)

Barcelona (BCN); Taipei None; Singapore (SQ)
Milan Malpensa (MXP); Taipei None; Delhi (AI); Tokyo Narita (AZ); Beijing (CA); Shanghai Pudong (CA);
Hong Kong (CX); Tashkent (HY); Seoul Incheon (KE); Islamabad (PK);

Altrimenti potrebbero unificare MXP e BCN facendo BCN-MXP-TPE

EVA Air plans more long haul destinations while growing short haul and consolidating with Uni Air

22-Dec-2015

EVA Air plans to launch service to Chicago and Istanbul in 2016, as well as considering a number of new destinations for 2017 and beyond, including Barcelona, Boston, Milan and Washington D.C. This large destination growth over the next few years compares with the five years when EVA went without adding a long haul point, until its Jun-2015 inaugural to Houston. Incoming 787-9s will enable growth in secondary European markets, although this could risk Taiwan-Europe overcapacity following Turkish Airlines' Mar-2015 entry, and Emirates’ plan to up-gauge its Taipei service to a two-class A380 in 2016. In its staple North American market, EVA Air plans to continue its expansion with its 777-300ER fleet, which will total 34 aircraft in 2017, but could possibly grow beyond that before EVA Air re-fleets with the 777X or A350-1000.

EVA Air plans to withdraw its A330-200s in 2016 in favour of A330-300s, while two MD-90s will be retired in 2016, and six A321s will join the fleet. Competitors China Airlines and TransAsia have LCC subsidiaries, but EVA Air maintains its view that conditions are not yet right for local Taiwanese LCCs. EVA Air is considering consolidation with its Uni Air subsidiary, if the government will allow EVA to take over Uni's traffic right allocations. [3256 words]

"Taiwanese carrier China Airlines has confirmed that it will suspend its twice weekly service between Taipei Taoyuan and London Heathrow from March 25, 2012, but the UK market remains crucial to its European strategy and it is likely to relaunch flights to London following the delivery of its new Airbus A350-900 airliners around 2015.

China Airlines first entered the UK market in March 2010 and was the sole company to provide direct links between Taipei and London. Its fellow Taiwanese carrier EVA Air also flies the route but its aircraft operate via Bangkok. In the past year an estimated 87,000 O&D passengers travelled between Taipei and London Heathrow and China Airlines had managed to secure an almost equal share of the traffic to its established rival with 26 per cent of the market.

The operator says it will continue to serve the London market through a codeshare with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines which will connect to its own flights to Taipei Taoyuan from Amsterdam Schiphol which operate via Bangkok. Ironically, on the same day China Airlines announced its plans, KLM also switched the operation of its own Amsterdam – Taipei link from a one-stop to a direct service.

The Taipei Taoyuan – London Heathrow route was flown using a four-engine Airbus A340-300 due to the range of the flight. The poor fuel efficiency of the aircraft when compared with twin-engine equipment is likely to have been a factor in the decision, especially with high fuel prices, while the European economic crisis and increased taxation in the UK are also likely to have played a role in the suspension of the route.

However, China Airlines says it remains committed to the UK market and will be retaining its regional office in London as well as a North of England sales office. This further strengthens the view that the carrier will seek to return to the country at its earliest convenience, a view a spokesman for the carrier confirmed to The HUB was a possibility. “China Airlines will certainly be keeping London on the radar and the arrival of new modern generation airliners in the future could facilitate a return to the market,” he said.

TOP TEN EUROPEAN MARKETS FROM TAIWAN (bi-directional O&D traffic)

Rank Airport Estimated O&D Passengers % Market Operators

1 Paris CDG (CDG) 111,057 14.3 % BR

2 Frankfurt (FRA) 105,877 13.6 % CI

3 London Heathrow (LHR) 95,99 12.4 % BR via BKK

4 Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) 57,025 7.3 % BR, CI & KL via BKK

5 Vienna International (VIE) 48,276 6.2 % BR via BKK; CI

6 Rome Fiumicino (FCO) 31,468 4.1 % CI via DEL

7 Munich Franz Josef Strauss (MUC) 30,493 3.9 % ---------

8 Milan Malpensa (MXP) 30,280 3.9 % -----------

9 Zürich-Kloten (ZRH) 29,187 3.8 %----------

(Others) 220,910 28.4 %

The table above highlights the importance of the London Heathrow market with the UK hub the third largest European destination for traffic to/from Taiwan. All six top markets are currently served directly, either on a non- or one-stop basis, with Munich, Milan and Zürich all showing the demand to potentially support direct services in the future.

China Airlines placed a firm order for 14 A350-900s in January 2008 and will use them to replace its older A340-300s. The aircraft will be configured with 36 Dynasty Class (Business Class) and 291 Economy seats and their range and fuel efficiency will make them well suited to serve destinations in Europe. The carrier expects to receive the aircraft from 2015 and will use them to replace its six A340-300s and six A330-300s and to support network growth. It also has options for a further six aircraft which if converted would be delivered in 2019 and 2020."
