Da metà settembre Germanwings apre Malpensa-Stoccarda 2x daily con ottimi orari mattino e sera. Il volo dovrebbe sostituire quello attuale di LH che verrà chiuso a causa del mancato rinnovo di contratto con Contact Air.

Per la stessa ragione la stessa Germanwings passerà ad operare diverse rotte da Stoccarda finora operate da LH.

I voli sono già in vendita e saranno operati con A319.

Sulla Malpensa-Stoccarda avremo quindi:

Air Berlin 2x daily con Q400
Germanwings 2x daily con A319

Lufthansa (LH) will transfer more flights out of Stuttgart (STT) to its low-cost subsidiary Germanwings (U2) beginning next year as both carriers optimize their route networks.

From summer 2012, U2 will serve all European destinations for LH out of STT. German domestic destinations will still be served by both carriers.

Flights to Berlin Tegel will be operated by both airlines in a coordinated timetable. Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich will be served exclusively by LH, while U2 will operate to Bremen, Dresden, Hanover, Rostock and Leipzig.

In February 2012, LH will transfer the first route, STT-London Heathrow to U2, which will take over Bilbao, Brussels, Manchester and Milan-Malpensa from LH. New destinations—such as Venice, Catania and Dubrovnik—will be added. Seating capacity will be raised significantly through the use of larger aircraft. Timetable changes will increase the number of destinations served by U2 from STT by nine to 48. U2 will base 10 aircraft in STT.

“With a joint market share of close to 40%, LH and U2 are clear market leaders in Stuttgart,” CEO-LH German Airlines Carsten Spohr said.

To simplify and expedite decision-making and management processes between the airlines, LH SVP-direct services Oliver Wagner was appointed to the U2 management board alongside Thomas Winkelmann and Axel Schmidt Nov. 1. He will serve as the third managing director of the carrier, while retaining his responsibility for LH-direct services in Frankfurt.
