British Airways is launching new shorthaul routes from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airports from March 30, 2008.

The airline will start flights from Heathrow to Malaga and from Gatwick to Alicante, Faro, Gibraltar, Ibiza, Malaga, Palma and Tunis*.

BA Cityflyer, the airline's wholly owned subsidiary which operates from London City airport, is to launch four new routes next summer to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Nice and Warsaw.

Robert Boyle, British Airways' commercial director, said: "We are opening up these Mediterranean hotspots with our new flights and are confident that, with our full onboard service and low prices, they will be very popular with customers.

"BA Cityflyer's operation at London City airport continues to go from strength to strength and from next summer will operate to nine destinations in the UK and Europe."

Flights from Gatwick to Aberdeen, Nice, Prague, Reykjavik and Split and from London City to Milan Malpensa will be suspended.

* These routes are operated currently by the airline's franchise carrier GB Airways whose franchise agreement with British Airways ends in March 2008.

Other new Gatwick routes previously announced for summer 2008 are Antalya, Genoa and Poznan. Flights to Warsaw will move from Heathrow to Gatwick from March 30, 2008 and flights to Algiers, Dallas and Houston will move from Gatwick to Heathrow at the same time.

The schedules for the new routes, which will start from March 30, 2008 unless specified, are:

Heathrow - Malaga Daily
Gatwick - Alicante Daily
Gatwick - Faro 13 flights per week
Gatwick - Gibraltar Daily
Gatwick - Ibiza Daily from June 2008.
Gatwick - Malaga Two flights per day
Gatwick - Palma Daily
Gatwick - Tunis Five flights per week
London City - Amsterdam Four per day from May 2008
London City - Barcelona Daily from May 2008
London City - Nice Daily
London City - Warsaw Daily from May 2008

D'altronde con un solo volo daily in un orario scomodo a centro giornata c'era da aspettarselo. LCY è un aeroporto business e servirebbero almeno 2 voli al giorno con orari mattino e sera...

Ci sarà pure una spiegazione plausibile ad un orario e frequenza cosi assurdi!!

LIN diventera' un gioiellino, solo voli Biz, city terminal altro che low cost e trasumanze di passegger ida LIN a MXP con il Malpensa Shuttle...(10 Euro).
